Members
The Utrecht Scheikundige Studentenvereniging "Proton", with about 800 members, is one of the largest and most active chemical study associations in the Netherlands.
Members of Proton pay a one-time membership fee of €40. This will keep them a member until they finish their chemistry studies at Utrecht University. Included in this amount are discounts on textbooks and educational, career and social activities at a greatly reduced price. Freshmen can also choose to purchase a year-long Proton sweatshirt at a low price.
Proton further offers master students who have not taken a bachelor's degree in Chemistry at Utrecht University the opportunity to become a member for only €10. These members have the same rights within the association as regular members except for the right to vote at General Assembly Meetings (ALVs). Master students can become a member through the following forms.
If Proton members have been members of Proton for at least three years and have a degree in chemistry, they can become former members of Proton. Former members have the same rights as members, except for voting rights at ALVs and priority in activities. Proton now has nearly 350 former members.
Former members
The Utrecht Chemical Student Association Proton has almost 350 former members. To strengthen the ties between these former members, their contact details and information about their careers are included in the former member handbook. In addition, all former members are invited to get together twice a year, once during an outing in a beautiful Dutch city and once during a barbecue.
The former member file is managed by the old-member committee. They also organize the annual old-member outing. For more information about the committee please visit this page.
Every Proton member can become a former member of Proton after leaving the study completely free of charge. You can sign up by filling out this form.
